2007-2008 - BOB ANDREWS – BEDFORD ATHLETIC BOOSTER’S SCHOLAR - ATHLETE AWARD

CONGRATULATIONS!! To Bedford High School’s 2007-2008 BOB ANDREWS –ATHLETIC BOOSTER’S SCHOLAR-ATHLETE AWARD WINNERS. This Award is given to Bedford’s outstanding female and male athlete in their senior year, based on the student’s ACADEMIC and ATHLETIC achievements through out their high school careers. The winners of this award receive a one (1) year $1000 scholarship, names on a plaque in the high school gymnasium and a plaque for their home.


ALOIYA EARL

ALOIYA graduated in the top ten (10) of her class with a 4.47 GPA. She was a member of the National Honor Society (3 years), an Academic All-State member of the Cross Country Team (2005) and is a Monroe County Academic All-Star (2005, 2006 & 2007). Plus Aloiya was a Southeastern Conference Academic All-Star for Bedford. Along with all of these academic honors, Aloiya was a four (4) year letter winner in cross country and a three (3) year letter winner in track. She was voted the track Most Valuable Runner for two (2) years and cross country Most Valuable Distance Runner two (2) years. Aloiya was recognized by the faculty and administration as THE Outstanding Senior for 2008. She has also received the National Sammy Award (Milk Mustache), one (1) of twenty-five (25) recipients out of 65,000 applications throughout the nation for her involvement in Athletics, Academics, Community Service and Leadership. In her essay, Aloiya is quoted as saying: “High school sports involve much more than crossing the finish line first or getting the game-winning kill. The most significant impact that sports have had on my life does not involve how fast I ran or how many points I scored. Rather, I have learned the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, a hard work ethic, perseverance and determination.”

Aloiya plans to attend the South Carolina University

JOSH CLARK

Josh graduated with a 4.389 accumulative grade point average which places him in the Top Ten in his class (4 th). He was a member of the National Honor Society for three (3) years. He received his Athletic Boosters Scholar-Athlete T-shirt three (3) years in soccer and two (2) years in baseball. In his senior year, Josh was on the Academic All-State Baseball Team. He was selected by the TV channel BCSN as an All-Around All-Star for soccer. This was an honor given by BCSN in each sport through out the Toledo Area for athletes who were high in academics, athletics and community service. Josh lettered three (3) years in Soccer and two (2) years in Baseball. He was First Team All-Southeastern Conference in soccer and 1 st Team All-County in Baseball. He was voted Most Valuable Offensive Player in Soccer and received the Bob Andrews Athletic Boosters Outstanding Athlete Award in Soccer and Baseball. He was First Team All-District in Soccer and Baseball his senior year. He also received the United States Army Reserve National Scholar-Athlete Award which is given to the top academic Male athlete in school. Josh tells us about Bedford Athletics in this quote from his essay: “My four years of Bedford Athletics have been more than I could ever ask for. The coaches are great, the facilities are outstanding …. I have given my all to make Bedford proud of their sports teams and would do it all again in a heartbeat. I will continue to apply these traits into the next stage of my life. ….. I thank Bedford for giving me the joy of athletics.

Josh plans to attend the University of Michigan in the fall.
