SALINE 10 - BEDFORD 2
The Mules opened their 2008-09 season with a disappointing loss to the Saline Hornets. The Hornets scored very early in the first period to take the lead and never looked back. At 9:12 in the first Garryt Kujawa scored a power play goal with an assist to brother Jared Kujawa. But the period would end with Saline up by three goals.
Saline had three penalties, the Mules had two penalties. Bedford had seven shots on goal and Saline had twelve shots on goalie Mark Blankenship. The second period was all Saline, adding four more goals to their lead. Salien was called for two penalties; Bedford had just one. Saline had ten shots on goal and Bedford had nine. At 13:26 in the third period sophomore Jared Kujawa scored Bedford's second goal with an assist to Jesse Bachli. Less than two minutes later Saline scored their ninth goal.
The game ended with 10:14 remaining in the game when Saline scored their tenth goal which invoked the Mercy rule. Blankenship faced five shots in the third and Bedford had two shots on goal. Bedford had the lone penalty in the period. The Mules next travel to Jackson on Saturday, November 22.

The Mules traveled to Jackson and came home with their first win of the season. Jackson started the scoring just nine seconds into the game but Bedford didn't let that discourage them. Jared Kujawa answered back just fourteen seconds later to tie the game. Jesse Bachli and Garryt Kujawa earned assists on Jared's goal. At 10:46 off the clock in the first Jackson went ahead on a power play goal to take a one goal lead into the locker room. Penalties were a little lopsided in the period with Jackson having two penalties and Bedford having five penalties. Jackson had six shots on goal for the period while Bedford had five.
The second period brought the Mules back to life when Garryt Kujawa scored off an assist from Jesse Bachli just 1:39 into the period. Christian Williams scored unassisted to put the Mules up by one. Jesse Bachli scored what would be the game winning goal off an assist from Christian Williams. Jackson scored late in the period to bring them within one goal but the Mules' lead would hold. Mark Blankenship faced just six shots int he period while Bedford had fifteen shots. Jackson had four penalties; the Mules had three.
No goals were scored in the third period with the defensemen fighting hard to keep goalscoring opportunities to a minimum. Bedford got off twelve shots on goal and Jackson had eight shots. Penalties were three for Jackson and two for Bedford.

ANN ARBOR HIGH SCHOOL SHOWCASE
The Mules faced the SCS Lakers at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube in the first of a two game showcase. The Lakers drew first blood just 22 seconds into the game to take an early lead. With just a little over a minute remaining in the period SCS increased their lead to two. Mark Blankenship faced nine shots in the period while the Mules managed to get just two shots on net. Each team was called for one penalty in the period.
At 6:29 of the second SCS scored their third goal. Mules' captain, Garryt Kujawa, scored Bedford's first goal unassisted just 21 seconds later to put the score at 3-1. The shots on goal were a little more even with SCS at 7 and Bedford with 6. The Lakers had just one penalty while the Mules were called for four penalties.
The lone goal of the third period was scored by senior Jesse Bachli with assists going to Garryt Kujawa and Drew Bachli. The Mules outshot the Lakers in the period eleven to three. The third period, however, was riddled with penalties with SCS receiving six penalties and Bedford getting caught for five penalties.
The Mules face the Pinckney Pirates on November 29, at 6:00 p.m. at the Ice Cube.

Bedford bounced back from last night's loss by beating the Pinckney Pirates by a score of eight to five. Nathan Piechorowski scored Bedford's first goal with 13:50 remaining in the first. Mike Miller and Mike Szenderski earned the assists. Two minutes later Jared Kujawa scored with an assist to Drew Bachli. And, at 10:41 Garryt Kujawa scored off an assist from Justin Newton. The Pirates scored their first goal at 7:57 but Jesse Bachli stopped their celebration by scoring just 27 seconds later off an assist from Blake Podgorski. At 5:36 remaining Garryt scored his second goal of the night with Jesse Bachli and Drew Bachli assisting. Jesse Bachli scored his second with 2:53 left in the period off assists from Jared Kujawa and Drew Bachli. The Mules went into the locker room with a four goal lead. Pinckney had nine shots on goal and the Mules had twelve. It was a penalty packed period with Bedford serving three penalties and Pinckney serving six.
The Pirates scored the only goal of the second period. Bedford had eight shots on goal and Pinckney had nine shots. The Mules had two penalties and the Pirates had just one.

Drew Bachli opened the scoring in the game at 13:24 in the first period. But the celebration was short lived when the Pioneers scored their first of seven unanswered points just 47 seconds later. Bedford had two penalties in the first period; Ann Arbor had just one penalty. The Mules had eight shots on goal, Ann Arbor had thirteen. Score at the end of the first period was three to one in favor of Pioneer.
The second period was all Ann Arbor They got two penalties and they got two goals. Bedford had no goals and no penalties. Shots on goal were eleven for Bedford and fourteen for Ann Arbor. Score at the end of the second period was five to one, Ann Arbor leading.
Junior Mike Szenderski scored Bedford's second goal at 11:36 of the third period. Garryt Kujawa and Justin Newton assisted on the goal. Each team received one penalty. The Mercy Rule (eight goal differential) was enforced with 8:29 remaining in the third period when Ann Arbor scored their tenth goal. Bedford had four shots and Ann Arbor had eight.
The Mules' next game is Saturday, December 6, against NHC rival Clay high School. Game time is 9:30 p.m. Half of that night's gate will be donated to the Kyle Cannon Fund.

We would like to thank everyone who attended the game - the team was able to donate $1,022 to the Kyle Cannon Fund through gate receipts, 50/50 raffle, and private donations.
Game Results: No, that is not a typo, the Mules absolutely dominated the Eagles in all aspects on the ice. Mark Blankenship played strong in net shutting out the Clay shooters. The Kujawa and Bachli brothers dominated in scoring and on defense.
Garryt Kujawa opened up the scoring flood at 12:22 in the first off assists from Drew and Jesse Bachli (get used to hearing that combination). Jesse Bachli scored less than a minute later assisted by Jared Kujawa. Garryt scored his second goal at 9:57 with assists to Mark Prenkart and Mike Szenderski. At 7:29 Blake Podgorski put the Mules up by four. The Eagles bench switched goalies at that point but that was still not able to stop the scoring drive. At 5:11 the Kujawa brothers teamed up to score goal number five (Garryt with the goal and Jared assisting). Jared Kujawa got a power play goal assisted by Jesse and Drew Bachli. At 1:48 still to play Garryt got his fourth goal assisted by the Bachli brothers. Twenty-one second later that threesome would again be written on the score sheet. (Garryt from Jesse and Drew). Bedford went into the locker room with an amazing eight goal lead. Mark Blankenship faced seven shots in the period. The Clay goalies faced eighteen shots leaving in eight. The Mules were called for four penalties in the period and the Eagles served three.
Jesse Bachli scored his second of the night just one minute forty seconds into period two assisted by Captain Garryt Kujawa. Drew Bachli finished the scoring at 6:54 with assists going to Garryt Kujawa and Jesse Bachli. Bedford had eight shots on goal for the period and Clay had eleven shots. The Mules had just two penalties while Clay had four including a game misconduct for five penalties in a game to one player.
The game was called after the second period (10 point differential). Although there were many goals scored the most important number was the money raised to help the Cannon Family. Again, thanks to all who contributed.

AA HURON 3 - BEDFORD 4 OT
The Mules scored just 36 seconds into the game when Jared Kujawa found the back of the net. Linemates Jesse Bachli and Garryt Kujawa assisted. This would be the only score of the period. Mark Blankenship faced fourteen shots and AA Huron's goalie faced nine shots. The River Rats had two penalties and Bedford doubled that with four in the period.
With 2:58 off the clock in the second Jared again scored assisted this time by Christian Williams and Jesse Bachli. At 6:21 off the clock Garryt Kujawa put Bedford up by three with what looked like a comfortable margin. Jesse Bachli and Jared Kujawa got assists on the goal. Bedford had nine shots on goal for the period and AA Huron had eleven.
Something happened between the second and third periods to bring AA Huron back to life. With just over two minutes off the clock they scored their first goal to pull within two. Forty eight seconds later they scored again to narrow the Mules' lead by one. At 8:04 off the clock the River Rats tied the game. Both teams played extremely well for the rest of regulation forcing the game into sudden death overtime. Only AA Huron got a penalty in the third period which resulted in a penalty shot for the Mules. But the Mules were unable to capitalize. AA Huron had nine shots on goal and Bedford had fourteen.
Alternate Captain Jared Kujawa gave Bedford the win when he scored a powerplay goal after 5:23 of overtime. Again, Jesse Bachli and Garryt Kujawa assisted. Huron again had the only penalty. Blankenship faced two shots and the Mules fired eight shots during the overtime.
A great game was played by the team. Standouts in the game were also Drew Bachli, Justin Newton, and Christian Williams.

The Mules are now on a three-game winning streak after beating Central Catholic. The Fighting Irish took a three game lead in the first period before Garryt Kujawa could score for Bedford. Christian Williams earned an assist. With just 42 seconds remaining in the first period Garryt scored his second goal assisted by brother Jared Kujawa. Central had fifteen shots on goal and Bedford had nine shots. Bedford had just one penalty and the Irish had two.
Less than a minute into the second period Central scored to go up by two goals. At 11:59 on the clock Garryt scored his third goal off assists from Jesse Bachli and Jared Kujawa. At 6:32 in the second Garryt scored his fourth of the night assisted by his brother Jared to tie the game. But the Irish scored at 4:17 to regain the lead. Sophomore Mike Miller scored his first goal of his varsity career at 4:17 to tie the game again. Justin Newton and Drew Bachli assisted on the Miller goal. Bedford had sixteen shots on goal and Mark Blankenship faced four shots. Bedford had no penalties and Central had three penalties.

After an extended break over the holidays the Mules continued with their winning ways. Mike Szenderski opened the scoring at 5:00 left in the first period. Nathan Piechorowski and Christian Williams assisted on Mike's goal. Whitmer tied the game with 29 seconds left in the period. Bedford had sixteen shots on goal and the Panthers had just four shots. Each team received one penalty.
Senior Jesse Bachli scored eighteen seconds into the second period off assists from Garryt and Jared Kujawa. Jared Kujawa scored with help from Nathan Piechorowski while the Mules were on a power play. With 9:53 off the clock Captain Garryt Kujawa scored unassisted to put the Mules up by three. The Panthers would score one more goal before Jared Kujawa scored a short handed goal regaining the three point lead with 35 seconds left in the second period. Bedford had seventeen shots on goal while Mark Blankenship faced five shots. Whitmer had two penalties; Bedford had three penalties for the period.
Whitmer scored their third and final goal 52 seconds into the third period. Mike Szenderski scored his second of four goals for the evening at 3:10 off the clock assisted by Justin Newton and Drew Bachli. Szenderski scored again a little under two minutes later assisted by freshman Derek Duschl. With 5:08 gone Jesse Bachli scored an unassisted goal to put the Mules up by five goals. With a little under five minutes left in the game Mike Szenderski scored his fourth goal off assists from Travis Krider and Blake Podgorski. Junior Drew Bachli scored with 12:01 gone assisted by Nathan Piechorowski and Jacob Kelch. And, Blake Podgorski scored the Mules' final goal with just under two minutes left in the game. The third period was penalty laden with Whitmer receiving nine penalties and Bedford being called for six penalties.

The Mules went two for two this weekend beating the Maumee Panthers at Tam-O-Shanter. Garryt Kujawa scored the Mules' first goal at 13:04 of the first period assisted by Jesse Bachli. Jared Kujawa scored Bedford's second goal at 9:02 in the first. Blake Podgorski and Drew Bachli earned assists on the goal. Maumee scored their first goal at 8:25 but Jared Kujawa regained the two point advantage when he scored at 7:15 off assists by Jesse Bachli and Garryt Kujawa. Bedford had fourteen shots on goal while the Panthers had seven shots. Maumee got caught for three penalties and the Mules had two penalties.

The Mules faced off against the Trojans in what would be a seesaw battle for the win. Bedford scored first while on a power play when Jordan Joersz found the back of the net. At 7:40 in the first Jared Kujawa put the Mules up by two off an assist from Jesse Bachli. But the Trojans tied the game when they scored two quick goals just a little over a minute apart. At 1:38 left in the period Jesse Bachli scored a short handed goal to regain the lead. But just 27 seconds later Monroe tied the game. With just four seconds on the clock Jared Kujawa scored his second goal, again assisted by Jesse Bachli to take a one goal lead into the locker room. Bedford had eleven shots on goal and Monroe had fourteen shots. Each team had two penalties.
Jared earned a hat trick when he scored a power play goal at 12:30 in the second off an assist from Blake Podgorski. Twenty seconds later Monroe scored to pull within one goal. Monroe scored one more goal at 9:40 in the second to tie the game at five goals each. The Mules had fifteen shots on goal and Mark Blankenship faced fourteen shots. Riverview scored their only goal of the game with just a little under three minutes off the clock while on a power play. Mike Szenderski tied the game for the Mules at 4:52 into the first unassisted. At 7:41 Jared Kujawa scored his first of five goals on the evening assisted by Jesse Bachli and Garryt Kujawa. Bedford had seven shots on goal and Riverview had nine shots on goal. Bedford had three penalties and Riverview had just one.
Jared scored his second goal with 7:00 minutes gone in the second assisted by Garryt Kujawa. With 11:20 off the clock Jared again scored assisted by Jesse Bachli and Garryt Kujawa. The first three goals scored by Jared were while the Mules were on a power play. Mark Blankenship faced just three shots in the period while the Mules had seven shots on goal. Bedford got caught for two penalties and Riverview had three penalties.

BEDFORD 2 - PERRYSBURG 4
It was the battle of the undefeateds for first place in the White Division. Unfortunately, the Mules would come out on the wrong side of the score. In a hard fought game the Mules drew first blood when Jared Kujawa scored at 11:30 in the first off assists from linemates Jesse Bachli and Garryt Kujawa. But Perrysburg tied the game at 3:30 while on a power play. Bedford had eleven shots on goal and the Yellowjackets had ten shots for the period. Each team had two penalties.
Perrysburg scored the go ahead goal at 7:42 in the second. Junior Drew Bachli tied the game at 4:04 off assists from brother Jesse Bachli and Christian Williams. Again the period ended with the teams tied. The Mules had seven shots on goal and Perrysburg had eleven shots. Both teams had three penalties.
Although the Mules fought hard on both offense and defense the Yellowjackets managed to score two more times to put the game out of reach. Bedford had eight shots on goal for a total in the game of twenty-six. Perrysburg had eleven shots on goal for a total of thirty-two in the game. It was a penalty ridden period for the Mules who got caught for four penalties to the Yellowjackets' one penalty.

BEDFORD 10 - CENTRAL CATHOLIC 4
The "Red Out" was a great success - drawing a big crowd that got to watch the Mules skate to an impressive win. Senior Jesse Bachli scored his first of five goals at 6:10 in the first period with an assist from Garryt Kujawa. Jared Kujawa scored two goals just twenty seconds apart in the final minute of the first period. Garryt Kujawa got an assist on the first of Jared's goals - Drew Bachli and Brendan Sokoloski got assists on the second goal. Mark Blankenship faced four shots for the period and the Mules had twenty shots on goal. Bedford had three penalties and the Irish had just one.
Central came out strong at the beginning of the second period scoring two goals within thirty second of each other (time of goals 11:32 and 11:09) to pull within one. At 6:36 in the second Garryt Kujawa scored to put the Mules up by two with Jacob Kelch and Mark Prenkert assisting on the goal. The Irish scored one more before Jesse Bachli scored at 2:09 remaining. Jared Kujawa and Drew Bachli assisted. With just five seconds left on the clock Jesse Bachli scored a power play goal assisted by Garryt Kujawa to put the Mules comfortably ahead. Central had six shots on goal and the Mules had nine shots. The Irish had two penalties and the Mules doubled that with four.
Jesse Bachli just picked up in the third period where he left off in the second by scoring Bedford's seventh goal off an assist from Jared Kujawa. Less than one minute later Senior Justin Newton scored a power play goal assisted by Drew Bachli. Blake Podgorski scored the ninth goal at 11:38 of the third assisted by Jared Kujawa. The Irish scored once more but it was not enough to matter. Jesse Bachli scored his fifth goal with 4:12 remaining in the game assisted by Evan Mahl.
It was great to have the Bedford Kicking Mules Pep Band there to play the National Anthem and during breaks in the game. The team appreciated their participation in the Red Out. Thanks also to Mary Bachli for organizing the t-shirt sales to parents, at the school lunch hours, and at the game itself.

After tying Perrysburg the night before the Maumee Panthers came to play some tough hockey against the Mules. In the first period Maumee did the only scoring, taking a 2-0 lead into the locker room. Blankenship faced eight shots and the Maumee goalie faced nine. There was only one penalty for the period and it was called on the Mules.
Whatever Coach Menchaca told his team in the locker room worked because at 13:54 of the second period Jesse Bachli scored off assists to Brendon Sokoloski and Garryt Kujawa to pull the Mules within one goal. At 10:06 Mike Miller scored to tie the game. Jared and Garryt Kujawa got the assists on Mike's goal. With just ten seconds left in the period Jared Kujawa went end to end and scored the go ahead goal unassisted. The Panthers managed eleven shots for period two and the Mules had eight shots. Again the two penalties of the period belonged to the Mules.
Maumee scored at 11:49 in the third to again tie the game. But just over a minute later Jared Kujawa would score the game winning goal assisted by Brendon Sokoloski and Garryt Kujawa. With nineteen seconds left on the clock Jared Kujawa scored an empty netter to put the Mules up by two. Mark Blankenship faced eleven shots for period three. The Mules had ten shots on goal for the period. Each team was caught for one penalty each.

The Mules faced off against the Whitmer Panthers and came home with another NHC victory to regain first place. Jared Kujawa scored the Mules' first goal on a power play with Garryt Kujawa assisting. Mike Miller added Bedford's second goal with just under three minutes left in the first period. Blake Podgorski and Jordan Joersz earned assists. The Mules had seventeen shots on goal and the Panthers had just five. Bedford served two penalties and Whitmer got called for three.
The Mules again came out strong in the second period in what looked like could become a runaway score. Jesse Bachli scored at 10:28; Jared Kujawa and Garryt Kujawa aided in the score. Jesse scored his second goal at 6:10 assisted by Garryt Kujawa. At 3:46 Jared Kujawa scored the Mules' fifth goal with brother Garryt helping. With just a little over three minutes remaining in the period the Panthers managed to put one past Mark Blankenship. The Mules had nineteen shots in the period and the Panthers had twelve shots. Both teams got called for three penalties.
Whitmer scored three goals in the third period to pull within one of the Mules. The Mules had to play strong defense to keep the game from slipping away. Bedford had nine shots on goal and the Panthers had thirteen. The Mules had six penalties and Whitmer had three.

The Mules walked away with bumps and bruises in their hard fought win against Lincoln at the Arctic Edge. Lincoln scored at 13:06 in the first period and would score with a little under three minutes left to take a two goal lead into the locker room. The Mules had nine shots on goal and Lincoln had nine. Both teams had two penalties.
Bedford would again make their run at a come from behind win when Jesse Bachli scored a power play goal at 11:10 of the second off assists from Garryt Kujawa and Drew Bachli. Jesse scored his second goal un- assisted at 3:58 remaining in the second period to tie the game. Just sixteen seconds later Jesse Bachli scored his third straight goal to put the Mules ahead. Brendon Sokoloski and Justin Newton assisted. At 1:57 on the clock Jared Kujawa scored the game winning goal assisted by Jordan Joersz and Blake Podgorski. With less than one minute left on the clock Lincoln scored their third and final goal to come within one of tying the game. Lincoln had seven shots on goal while the Mules fired off a very impressive twenty-one shots for the period. Each team had one penalty.
The third period was penalty ridden for both teams - the Mules having seven penalties called on them and Lincoln getting three penalties. While on a power play Garryt Kujawa scored Bedford's insurance goal assisted by Jared Kujawa. No other scoring occurred during the period. Bedford had eight shots on goal while Mark Blankenship faced ten shots from Lincoln.

The Mules made it a clean sweep for the season over NHC rival Clay Eagles. Drew Bachli scored the Mules' first goal with 47 seconds left in the first period. Jared Kujawa and Blake Podgorski assisted on Drew's goal. But the Eagles scored with just twelve seconds left to tie the game. Bedford had the only two penalties for the period.
The second period proved to be a very interesting one for the Mules. Blake Podgorski scored at8:15 with an assist to Jared Kujawa. But the Eagles would again tie the game at 4:00 left on the clock. Goalie Mark Blankenship got into a little penalty problem at the end of the period and was replaced by Jared Kujawa in net. While he was in net Mark let in two goals and made ten saves. The Mules had five penalties in the period to the Eagles' one penalty.
Jared Kujawa played strong in net while the shooters for Bedford did their job. Garryt Kujawa scored back to back goals unassisted within one minute of each other (14:22 and 13:40). Junior Brendon Sokoloski scored at 11:29 with assists to Jesse Bachli and Garryt Kujawa. Clay scored one more goal with a little over one and a half minutes remaining to pull within two goals. Jared Kujawa faved a total of ten shots while in net.
Bedford had two penalties for the period and again Clay had just one.

The Mules scored first when Jared Kujawa found the back of the net at 10:58 of the first. Brother Garryt Kujawa assisted on the goal. Unfortunately, this would be the only time the Mules would score in the game. At 3:23 remaining in the first Saline tied the game. Both teams had seven shots on goal. There were no penalties.
Saline scored one goal in the second period to take a lead they would never relinquish. Although Bedford outshot Saline ten shots to seven, they were unable to get any past the Hornet goalie. Saline had one penalty, Bedford stayed clean with none.
Saline scored their third goal while the teams were on a four and four at 3:32 in the third. they scored their fourth and final goal while on a power play at 2:47 remaining in the game. Bedford had just five shots on goal and Saline had seven shots. Saline had just one penalty and the Mules had two penalties.

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!
The Mules made it four in a row defeating the Perrysburg Yellowjackets in a nailbiting game.
Bedford is now the White Division Champions of the Northwest Ohio Hockey League for the fourth year in a row. Jared Kujawa scored the first goal of the game with 7:24 off the clock in the first period. Garryt Kujawa and Brendon Sokoloski assisted. Mark Blankenship was strong in net facing eleven shots for the period. The Mules had twelve shots on net. The Mules had the only penalty in the period.
The second period was very intensely played with Perrysburg scoring with 12:39 gone off the clock to tie the game. Blankenship faced ten shots in the period. The Mules fired off nine shots on the Perrysburg goalie. And, again, Bedford was the only team called for penalties, receiving four in the period.
Both teams came out to win in the third. The Mules' Jacob Kelch scored a power play goal at 6:20 off the clock assisted by Drew and Jesse Bachli. At 7:51 gone Perrysburg's Dan Lopez scored unassisted to tie the game silencing the crowd. But Jared Kujawa showed he could do it just as well (if not better) by scoring unassisted just nine seconds later. With 11:38 gone off the clock Perrysburg went ahead by one but the Bachli brothers would not be denied. Drew Bachli scored the game winning goal with just 32 seconds left. Brother Jesse Bachli scored an empty net goal with six seconds left to add the finishing touch on a great NHC career. Perrysburg had eight shots on goal while the Mules had eleven shots on goal. The Yellowjackets were caught for two penalties and the Mules received just one.
The game was also Senior Recognition Day - the team honored Paige Wilson and Ashley Dickinson, two of the team managers, and Justin Newton, Jesse Bachli, and Garryt Kujawa. All five of these individuals will be greatly missed by the team next year. But we wish them much success in their future endeavors.

The Mules faced off against SEC rival Ann Arbor Pioneer and came out on the wrong end of the win. In the first period the Pioneers took a two goal lead. The Mules managed just three shots on goal and Ann Arbor had ten shots on Mark Blankenship. No penalties were called on either team.
The score would show a five goal lead before the Mules' Jared Kujawa could put one in the net. Brendon Sokoloski and Christian Williams assisted. After Pioneer again went up by five Jared Kujawa scored while the Mules were on a power play at 13:10 on the clock. Garryt Kujawa and Brendon Sokoloski helped out with the goal. Mike Szenderski scored the Mules' third goal to come within three of Ann Arbor. Drew Bachli earned the assist on Mike's goal. The Mules had eight shots on goal and Ann Arbor had nineteen shots. Bedford had two penalties and Pioneer had three for the period.

The Mules lost their second game in a row to an SEC rival, falling to the Chelsea Bulldogs by a score of six to three. The Bulldogs scored three times in the first period to take a sizable lead they would never relinquish. Chelsea had fourteen shots on goal and Bedford had six shots. It was a penalty free period for both teams.
Junior Brendon Sokoloski scored the Mules' first goal at 4:30 off the clock in the second period. Jesse Bachliand Garryt Kujawa assisted. At 6:26 Mike Szenderski scored to pull the Mules within one goal assisted by Jared Kujawa and Justin Newton. But twenty seven seconds later the Bulldogs regained a two goal lead. Chelsea would score one more time before the period was over to take a three goal lead into the third period. Both teams had eleven shots on goal for the period. Bedford had one penalty, Chelsea had none.
Just two minutes into the third period Chelsea scored a short handed goal to make it a four goal differential. But, at 6:41 off the clock Jesse Bachli scored a short handed goal for the Mules, assisted by Garryt Kujawa and Drew Bachli. Chelsea had eight shots on goal and Bedford had nine shots on net. Each team received two penalties.

February started out quite well when the team won the White Division in the NHC but the Mules are not doing well in the SEC losing their third straight game. AA Huron scored twice before the Mules could manage to put one in the net. Jacob Kelch scored a power play goal at 13:36 in the first to pull Bedford within one. Jared Kujawa and Drew Bachli assisted. Bedford had ten shots on goal and Huron had eleven. Ann Arbor got the only penalty for the period.

The Mules faced their final opponent of the 2008-2009 season on Saturday night. The Dreadnaughts scored first just 1:33 into the game. At 9:40 off the clock Blake Podgorski scored his first of two goals off assists from Drew Bachli and Jared Kujawa to tie the game. With just over a minute left in the period Dexter again regained the lead. Dexter had six shots on goal and Bedford had nine shots. Dexter had the only penalty in the period.
The second period was hard fought by both teams. It took until 12:36 off the clock for Blake Podgorski to again score to tie the game. Justin Newton and Mike Szenderski assisted on the goal. The Dreadnaughts had six shots on goal and the Mules had eight shots. Each team had one penalty.
Dexter scored a shorthanded goal at 4:46 off the clock to go up by one. They would again score what would prove to be the game winning goal at 7:52. But the Mules would not give up. With 11:15 gone from the period Captain Garryt Kujawa pulled the Mules to within one. Earning assists on the goal were Brendon Sokoloski and Jesse Bachli. But the Mules fell short and lost the final regular season game. The Mules had eight shots on goal and Mark Blankenship faced nine shots. Dexter had two penalties while the Mules had three penalties.
Now it is on to the SEC playoffs - game is on Thursday at 6:00 at the Ice Box. Our opponent is not known at this time. Good Luck Mules!!!

MHSAA Pre-Regional Final
For the past three seasons the Mules have fallen to Saline in the first round of the MHSAA Pre-Regionals. Bedford traveled to the Ice Box with hopes of ending that streak. Unfortunately the Mules 2008-2009 season ended when they fell to the Hornets by a score of 4-3 in a hard fought, well played contest.
The Hornets scored two quick goals just sixteen seconds apart to jump out in front of Bedford. With just a little over two and a half minutes left in the first period Mike Miller scored the first goal for the Mules off an assist from senior Justin Newton. Bedford had eleven shots on goal while the Hornets had just five shots. Bedford had just one penalty to Saline's two penalties.
The Mules continued to play hard in the second period keeping the win within reach. At 11:51 Jared Kujawa scored the tying goal unassisted. That would be the only score for the period. Mark Blankenship faced eleven shots from Saline and the Mules had nine shots for the period. Again the Mules had just one penalty while the Hornets had two.
Saline scored the go-ahead goal at 9:27 in the third and scored an "insurance" goal at 6:25 to go up by two. goals. Captain Garryt Kujawa scored for the Mules with just under two minutes remaining in the game. Seniors Jesse Bachli and Justin Newton helped out. The team played their hearts out in the time left but Saline held on for the win Both teams had nine shots on goal for the period. Saline had two penalties and the Mules got caught for one penalty..
It has been a great season for the team and for Coach Randy and Troy. We would like to take this opportunity to wish our seniors the very best in the future - they will truly be missed. Seniors are: Captain Garryt Kujawa, Alternate Captain Jesse Bachli, Justin Newton. It has been a pleasure watching you play. We must also say goodbye to two of the team's managers, Ashley Dickinson and Page Wilson. Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication to the team.
