Alumni Run Results
At the 10th annual Bedford Alumni Run the Lady Mules had their first opportunity to show off all the hard work and training that went into the past summer. First for the lady mules was freshman Kelsey Calhoun in 20 minutes flat. She set a hard early pace putting her 14 seconds clear of the field by the first mile!!! Following close behind and finishing second was senior and team captain Kate Calhoun in a time of 20:28. Kallie Johnston was 3rd in 21:44, Amanda Zittleman was 4th in 21:50 bettering her all-time best performance by 38 seconds, Rachel Mayer was 5th in 22:01, Anne Redd 6th in 22:10, Mariah Robinette 7th in 22:43 setting a new PR by 46 seconds, Megan Sloan 8th in 23:03, Chelsea Gray 9th in 26:14, and Jodie Young finished 10th in 27:02. Great Job Ladies!!!

South Lyon Invitational
There were many good things that happened today at South Lyon and also some things we will have to work on. Let me first begin by congratulating the team for a strong effort, nice job ladies. Comparing the times from last year to the times from this year, our team is doing awesome. It is amazing to follow your progression from year to year. I would like to thank Emily Green and Heather Felkey for running around and getting all the splits for me.
Today's Runner of the Meet goes to Megan Sloan!!! She finished 6th in the Varsity B race in a time of 23:03 matching her time from the alumni run exactly. She ran a very gutsy race and never gave up, fighting to the end. Her time moves her up to sixth girl for Tiffin!!! great job Megan. In fact I was very impressed with the entire Varsity B Team today. Chelsea and Jodie also ran great races; all three girls continued to move up and ran strong races in the heat!!! Chelsea Gray was the only girl in either race to run faster than she did at the Alumni Run, bettering her time by 30 seconds...great job!!! The Varsity B race was a non-scoring event.
The Varsity A race had its ups and downs, and I think it really woke a few people up once we saw the times and results. Kate Calhoun lead the girls with a 5th place finish in a time of 20:50, she was followed closely by Kelsey Calhoun in 8th place in a time of 21:06, Kallie Johnston was 20th in 21:57, all three girls medaled in the race, great job ladies. Rounding out the rest of the top seven finishers were Rachel Mayer 26th(22:45), Amanda Zittleman 27th(22:46), both girls just missed getting a medal, top 25 finishers received awards, Mariah Robinette was 36th(23:45), and Anne Redd 38th(24:24)......nice job today ladies!!! The heat played into the equation for some of the girls today, but everyone in the race had to deal with the conditions so I refuse to accept that as an excuse.

First off let me say wonderful job ladies!!! I couldn't be more pleased with the performance of our team today, everyone did awesome!!! We finished 15th out of 28 teams in the Division I Varsity A race with 375 points, an improvement of 8 places from last year. The mostly sunny day with a slight breeze made for a great day of running and the fast times were proof of that.
Division I Varsity A Race: Leading the way was Kelsey Calhoun in 19:33 (23rd place) setting a new PR by 27 seconds, followed closely by her sister Kate Calhoun in 19:44 (32nd place), Amanda Zittleman was next in 20:56 (84th place) also setting a new PR by 54 seconds, Rachel Mayer 21:23 (110th place), Kallie Johnston 21:39 (124 place), Megan Sloan 22:44 (166th place) setting a new PR by 19 seconds, and Chelsea Gray in 24:31 (188th place) also setting a new PR by 56 seconds. Great Job Ladies!!!
Division I Varsity Open Race: Heather Felkey lead the mules in the open race with a time of 22:13 (24th place) setting a new PR by 36 seconds, next was Mariah Robinette in 22:40 (54th place) also setting a new PR by 3 seconds, both girls ran times that will move them onto the Varsity A squad for Jamboree #1 at Saline on Tuesday, also running great in the open race was Emily Green in 25:00 (238th place) great job girls!!!
Runner of the Meet: Amanda Zittleman earned the honor this week with a fantastic performance in the Division I Varsity A Race. She got a great start putting herself in a position early on to have a great race. Her time of 20:56 was an amazing 2:34 seconds faster than last year, and a new Overall PR by 54 seconds placing her 84th in the race. Great Job Amanda!!!

SEC Jamboree #1
The girls did a great job today. Saline's course is very tough with some big hills. The girls knew it was not a course to run a fast time on, and I talked to the them about concentrating more on their place in the race. Kelsey Calhoun ran a great race and finished 4th overall leading the mules to a 4th place finish. Beating Pioneer was a definite highlight of the afternoon.

MSU Invitational
The Spartan Invite was held yesterday at Forest Akers East Golf Course in Lansing, MI. It was a rainy overcast day and the course was a little spongy from all of the rain. However, it still made for a fast day and there were many great times run throughout the day. Bedford's girls' were entered into the Nike Elite Race. This was a great experience for the girls as they raced against many of the top teams in the state and it was a great preview of what they will see at MIS on November 1st. The lady mules were finishing up a long week of racing and training, and this was their 3rd race in 7 days. Even on heavy legs and fighting through a few colds and injuries they still ran a great race, many of them running there best time of the season and we even added a few Overall PR's!!! Anne Redd was back and ready to race, running a time of 22:12 moving her back onto the varsity squad. This was her first race back since hurting her ankle after South Lyon. Megan Sloan also ran an Overall PR in a time of 22:08......great job girls!!!

Clay Invitational
Today the ladies finished 3rd out of 16 teams. The girls ran great today finishing with 105 points just behind Southview with 97, and Notre Dame with 44. Times today were very good as the girls continue to improve this season. Kelsey Calhoun lead the way in the Varsity Race with a 3rd place finish in a time of 19:24, Kate Calhoun finished 10th in 20:16, Amanda Zittleman 26th in 21:12, Heather Felkey 31st in 21:21, Kallie Johnston 35th in 21:26, Anne Redd 38th in 21:30, Mariah Robinette 57th in 22:02, Rachel Mayer 61st in 22:06, and Megan Sloan 65th in 22:19.
In the J.V. Race the performance of the day went to Emily Green as she finished 9th in 22:34 setting a New Overall PR by 1:28.....congratulations Emily!!! Chelsea Gray finished 78th in 25:10 running a great race after coming back from a slight injury.
The team looks amazing, 10 of the 11 girls who raced today ran 22:34 or faster. Great Job to all the girls, keep up the good work and let's go after it on Tuesday against the league in Jamboree #2 at Willow Metro Park!!!

Portage Invitational
Today the lady mules ran awesome!!! Having their best day of the season the girls finished 13th out of 33 teams at the Portage Invitational. Take a look at the state rankings, 10 out of the top 13 teams in the state competed today, there was also one team from Illinois and Ohio that were ahead of us, but other than Hartland all of the other teams ahead of us are ranked teams!!! Today we had 7 out of the 12 girls run PR's, and the others were just a few seconds away from their best times...great job girls!!!
