behind Novi (68 points) at the South Lyon Invitational on Saturday. There was
a total of 12 teams.

in a field of 33. There were 13 of the top 20 teams in Ohio at the meet, including
the top 4 teams in the state and the defending state champs.

Invitational
The boys' cross country team placed 11th out of 25 teams in
the "elite" race at the MUS Invitational. Only the best teams in the
state can enter the elite race and this year was no different. The #1, #4, #6,
#8, and #9 in D1 were there, as well as, the #2 ranked team in D2. Ohio also sent
a few ranked CC programs to compete.

Clay
Invitational
The boys' team traveled to Ohio and ran well against some
strong competition. The race for first was close and Bedford gave it their all
but came up just 6 points short of the win finishing in 2nd behind Strogsville
(Cleveland area team). Bedford did place four in the top 20 out of 183 runners;
the team is improving with every race and plans on making a run for the MHSAA
State Championships.

SEC Jamboree #2
Bedford went up against their Red Division in their league Jamboree and did not come prepared to face some of the top teams in the state with AA Pioneer (#1 ranking) and Saline (#5 ranking). The Mules placed 4 th with 88 points and are now in a battle to stay in front of AA Huron at the final Jamboree.

Portage Invitational
The Bedford boys' cross country team placed 10th out of 40 teams at the Portage Invitational, beating some of the ranked teams in the state. Tommy Valade placed 3rd in the race and tied the Bedford High School record with a 15:40.

Jamboree #3
Bedford placed 4 th at the final Jamboree behind AA Pioneer (state ranked #1), Saline (state ranked #5), and AA Huron (state ranked #8). Bedford is ranked 18 th in the latest polls and performed well against the competition. Tommy Valade put up a solid effort but was outkicked in the last 100 meters and was the runner-up. Tommy ran a 15:48 which ties the third fastest time ever run by a Bedford CC athlete.

Regionals
The Mules did what they have been doing all year and that is run together and step up if a teammate stumbles. The team placed third and qualified for the MHSAA State Championships. It was a tight race for the top three teams with Saline and Monroe both scoring 48 points and Bedford close behind with 62. Tommy Valade made history again by being the first regional champion on the men's side.

State Meet
The boys' CC team finished 22nd out of 27 teams at the MHSAA State Championship. All of the boys turned in solid performances with personal records from Nick Kaiser, Jordan Call, and Andrew Althaus. Tommy Valade finished 27th overall and earned 1st team All- State Honors as a junior.
